She happens to love the color gray, walking in the city, sunrises, and anthropologie. Once when visiting Brugge, Belgium she bought a large bunch of white hydrangeas for herself. Debra carried them around the city all day simply because they were beautiful. The dried flowers are the one keepsake she has from that trip. Nothing has ever changed her life more than visiting the country of Haiti. It was on the village streets when a little hand tugged hers that she knew her life would be tied to that place forever. Rooted deep in her soul is an affection for listening to and sharing stories in conversation, teaching, written word, and with photos. Her usual Starbucks order is a tall black tea. If you were chatting with Debra she would most likely talk about adoption, reality tv, justice or her latest thrifting find. Her days are spent doing laundry, writing, and following Jesus. Debra studied Missions and Youth at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo. Along with a group of fifty friends, Debra and her family, helped plant Bayou City Fellowship in Houston, Texas where her husband is a Pastor. As a Pastor’s wife, she jokingly refers to herself as a Pastor of Helps.
