Chapter 4: Go Fight the Demand

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23

So far, we have learned about the problem of human trafficking and we have discussed how to spread awareness and pray about it. Over time, anti-trafficking organizations and law enforcement have been getting better and better at capturing traffickers and rescuing and restoring victims. We need to support this good work and continue to pray over it.  But unless we get to the root of the issue, more traffickers will continue to take their place and more people will be sold into slavery. To end slavery, we have to address the issue at its core and get to its roots: the demand for sex trafficking.

Take it Further

For a better understanding of the sex trafficking market in Texas, we recommend reading The Sex Trafficking Marketplace: Addressing Demand Through Legislation and Tactics, a publication by Children At Risk. The book provides an in-depth look at the components of demand: suppliers, the victim supply, and the purchasers of victims. Included in an overview of federal and state anti-trafficking laws and how these laws address demand within their texts.
